With lockdown restrictions easing and food waste reportedly on the rise again, the UK is reversing progress when we threw away less and were confined to our homes. Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) has worked effortlessly with businesses, individuals and communities to achieve a circular economy and curb food waste. According to WRAP, 70% of food waste arising in the UK comes from households – approximately 4.5 million tonnes, £14 billion a year AND around 22 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
So what can we do to reduce the amount of food waste we’re creating? Total food waste in the UK has been on the decline for the past 3 years, but that doesn’t excuse the 9.5m tonne elephant in the room. Here’s 6 different food waste apps that we think you’ll love in the UK!
